Empathy is such an important quality that we all need to learn to develop. No one masters it accidentally! This poem gives us one persons view on Empathy and it is beautifully written.
Empathy
Impact unbe-knownst
Receiver pulsates
A pulse from temple to temple
Elated and skipping beats
The warmth of tenderness
A gesture of ear
To heart
Drawn to speak less
A single glance
And soft caresses
A kind gesture
Suggesting solace
Through empathy
Empower the lonely and alone
Pray
Genuinely pray
And listen with affection
To the one aching for a sympathetic ear
Stand up please
Supplicate the living
Give relief to the crushed souls
Console the afflicted
Mend broken spirits
Implore mercy
By showing love towards those mercilessly aching in the pit
The one stagnant
And overwhelmed at the bottom
The ones feeling less than living
Though wanting
Waiting to view themselves less than valueless
Continue aiding
And giving of yourself
Pave the way
To forgiving the lowly
Due to unforeseen circumstances
Who could have known
Suffering would fill endless streams
With tears
Grieving
So much grieving
Pain until the dawn of mourning ends
Who could have known
These heart stricken beings
Would end in woeful emptiness
The hurtfulness
And the feeding on one’s own fears
Pleading for sorrow
Those sorrowing
And settling upon the soleful dust
Be kind to the wounded
And patient
With the aged
Cherish what’s beneath the gray
Love the young
And energetic
Those kind and humble hearted
Measure their uninterrupted treasure
Believe in their worth
The value of comforting the crushed
Be the empath
Bearing up the grief
Grieve with those lost
And those grieving loss
The ones losing their grip
Supplicate the emotionally wounded
Though sensitive to light and darkness
May be mis-understood pain
Show sympathy
A selfless act
Work out the mentality of compassion
Speak of value
The spoken strength
Talk of truth
The end of crying
The end of pain
And no more suffering
The end of mourning
Sooth the muscle of life
With unspoken love
Display empathy
Please
